Real Estate
Development & Adaptive Reuse
Whiskey
Bay Development Corporation was formed in 2008
to assist Studio S27, Inc. with its real estate
activities. The purpose of the development
corporation is to provide a full-time,
professional effort in real estate development,
most particularly in the restoration and
adaptive reuse of historic buildings.
Whiskey Bay specializes in restoration and
adaptive reuse of historic buildings. In the
real estate world, adaptive reuse is taking a
historic building and giving
it a new life. Loft housing is a good example of
an adaptive reuse development. As products of
the Industrial Revolution, these warehouses once
served as industrial centers; today these
warehouses serve as loft housing. Adaptive
reuse, along with brownfield reclamation, is
also seen by many as a key factor in land
conservation and reducing the amount of sprawl.
In terms of smart growth, it is much more
efficient and environmentally responsible to
redevelop
older buildings closer to the urban core than to
build new buildings on farm fields.
Whiskey Bay also provides design consultation
and/or general contracting services for
restoration services; from restoring an entire
façade of an
Art Deco Building to rebuilding a Country
Cottage Kitchen. Whiskey
Bay specializes in both interior and/or exterior
elements: windows,
d oors,
lighting, façade treatments, roofing
materials, gutters, etc.
Whiskey Bay prides itself on its comprehensive
knowledge of typical construction types, styles,
and materials common to the Midwest and the Gulf
Coast.
